Maya May is the co-host of The Breakdown with Lincoln Project co-founder Rick Wilson and Protect & Serve with former DC Metro officer Michael Fanone.
Since pivoting from standup comedy into politics the week of the J6 Capitol attack, Maya has interviewed dozens of policymakers, experts, and authors on fascism, authoritarianism, and Christian Nationalism — including Ruth Ben-Ghiat, Pulitzer Prize winner Anne Applebaum, and Jason Stanley, author of How Fascism Works.
If you’re online, you’ve probably come across her videos; they’ve had millions of views and likes across platforms. Historian Heather Cox Richardson once tweeted that Maya is “smart and funny. A good follow.” Maya plans to one day put this on a t-shirt. She has a BA in Political Science from Grinnell College and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Miami.
